A closer look at Clan Powers

Ladies and Gentlemen!
Yedo Deluxe Master Set started off with two new modules – two big chunks of content that had not been seen in print before. The Teahouse and Disciples were quickly joined by Clan Powers. It is this newest module I would like to first focus on and tell you more about.
Yedo has always been a game which offered a slightly asymmetric experience already, as before the game starts, each player would choose a Shogun’s Favour card, granting them a unique starting bonus.
These were naturally preserved in the Yedo Deluxe Master Set, and even slightly expanded, as if you are using the Teahouse Module (more on Teahouse and Specialists in a future update), you will also receive a Character for your first turn. However, we knew that both veterans and new fans of Yedo would want more variety, so Thomas and Wolf came up with a set of Clan Powers.
When added to the game, Clan Powers are drafted at the start of the game, right before drafting Shogun’s Favour, but revealed only at the moment of the application of the Favour effects. This way, some of the setup elements can be even further altered by this new mechanism.
Once selected, the Powers influence your game in one or two ways (depending on the specific Clan Power card):
If your Clan is known as The Rich, you simply start the game with some extra cash (the exact value is dependent on the length of your game). While there is no extra ability to be used during the game, you will start with the ability of buying into other abilities early on: you will be the Clan able to afford Annexes (with their own abilities), and win Specialist auctions (or simply buy them) right from the start. All this will offer you an incredibly flexible and good start – and advantage you can easily build on.
If your Clan is known as The Generous, you will offer other players a special Action Location (which can house one Disciple of each opponent per round). Whenever used, this Location provides them with 7 Mon, and you with 1 Prestige. Also, for being Generous, you get one more ability: you are allowed to use opponent Annexes as if they were your own. This way, you gain access to Annex abilities the moment others build them.
If your Clan is known as The Tenacious, you gain a simple but flexible edge: you pay 2 Mon less whenever you have to pay any Mon. Whether it’s the bidding phase or a visit to the carpenter, you have a discount – and one which stacks with any other discounts.
If your Clan is known as The Seaworthy, you gain certain boons related to the Harbour district. Firstly, whenever you decide to take the Mon from the Church, you always take 2 extra. This means that you can use the Church as an effective source of income. Furthermore, you also receive a personal Location – one which is open even if any other circumstances block access to the Harbour – which allows you to exchange Mon into Prestige.
If your Clan is known as The Duplicitous, you simply start with the Ninja Specialist. This not only makes your workforce larger but also allows you a single move into the District that would otherwise be inaccessible due to Watch Patrol movement. If you’re not using the Specialists Module, this ability still grants you an extra Disciple (albeit a regular one) and 4 Mon to start you off at a more flexible position.
Finally, if your Clan is known as The Wise, you gain the ability to always draw 2 extra cards whenever you draw any card, and choose the best option. Having the foresight ability allows you to be the most effective when looking for the right Mission, Action or – most importantly – Bonus Card, often allowing you to adapt to the situation on the board much quicker than other Clans.
Clan Powers offer a big kick, which is why they should not be used in the 11-round game (Classic Yedo length). If you decide to add them to your game, you will be able to often achieve much more within a shorter time, making for a more nuanced and satisfying experience.

New Add-On: Neoprene Mats Set!

Ladies and Gentlemen!
Usually around this time of day the Shogun meets a violent and untimely end, but today we decided to delay this event to bring you a piece of exciting news: we have a new add-on!
Since the first day the Yedo Deluxe Master Set project preview has gone live, you've asked us about a neoprene mat that could stand in for the board. While they are difficult to ship (which is what we would say whenever this question appeared), we went to work on finding out if we could find a way to manufacture and pack the mats in a way that would allow us to deliver them in pristine condition. Suffice to say we've found what we needed, and now we're presenting you with this glorious set!
Apart from the main board, this set offers you 5 player mats - one for each clan! We are also making the main board mat slightly bigger, giving you a bit more space for all the decks and disciples moving around the board. Naturally, all elements will still fit nicely (the deck spots are not getting bigger), but there will simply be a bit more space between them.
As you can see, the player mats will be a bit larger than player boards. This way you will be able to keep all cards and tokens on the neoprene mat. This will also allow you to (if you want to) place the player board securely on the player mat, allowing you to make two layers, with the bottom one offering the great surface and neoprene grip.
This is great but... how do I get add-ons again?
It's really simple: just add the total for all add-ons you would like to receive to your pledge (you can use the "Manage Pledge" button to do this), and we will sort it out in the pledge manager after the campaign.

Shipping to South Africa now open!

Ladies and Gentlemen!
We're coming to you with a very short update (but stay tuned for more, as we have something big coming up) to inform you that shipping to South Africa is now open! The shipping cost (added in the pledge manager after the project is finished) will be $28, and the pledges will be fulfilled by VFI and Solarpop.
We would also like to remind you that we are still unable to ship to Brazil, Libya, Syria, Philippines, North Korea and Antarctica.
Wait, so when do I pay the shipping?
We will ask you to pay the shipping costs after the project in the pledge manager. Do not add the shipping costs before.
And when will the project manager launch?
The project manager will open no sooner than 16 days after the project will conclude. We will keep it open for at least a few weeks. Please follow the project updates, as we will provide you with all information needed in the updates. Once the pledge manager is open, we will also provide you with a warning as to when it will close about 24 hours before we close it.
