Coronavirus update
about 4 years ago – Fri, Mar 13, 2020 at 03:47:25 AM

Ladies & Gentlemen,

This will be a short one and it concerns just the production timeline in the context of the current pandemic. Workers in our factory have mostly returned, however not all of their contractors have been able to do the same. At the moment we are still inside the initially estimated timeline, but with the coronavirus spreading unpredictably we cannot guarantee that we'll be able to keep it.

We're constantly working on backup plans for each step, but we make our top priority the health of our team and our partners, therefore we will not put any pressure on anyone if that would affect their likelihood of remaining healthy.

Have a great weekend and stay safe,

Andrei

All Yedo cards
about 4 years ago – Wed, Feb 19, 2020 at 01:36:31 AM

Ladies & Gentlemen,

As promised, we're showing you below one but last piece of the Yedo puzzle, but perhaps the most important one, all the Yedo cards, as dropbox links:

BIG cards

https://www.dropbox.com/s/hic5yit7uk8nghr/yedo_cards_70x120_front_preview2.pdf?dl=0

  • character cards
  • missions
  • clan powers
  • cards for solo and cooperative mode

SMALL cards

https://www.dropbox.com/s/sc2pw11lm84vkbo/yedo_cards_63x88_front_preview2.pdf?dl=0

  • starting cards
  • action cards
  • bonus cards
  • event cards
  • solo/coop objectives

We welcome your feedback, but please follow the guidelines below when providing it, so we can make best use of it:

  • please provide feedback as comments to this update (not main comments section)
  • please do NOT comment on Dropbox directly
  • when you comment, please specify: deck (BIG/SMALL), page number in the PDF, text or image to be corrected, what it should be corrected to

Next Monday we will compile all comments, run them by the designers and the development team who will filter suggestions, then we will update the cards and send them to print.

Thank you,

Andrei

The coronavirus and how it is going to affect us
about 4 years ago – Tue, Feb 11, 2020 at 02:04:09 AM

Ladies & Gentlemen,

First of all, we will proceed to charging cards this week.

Secondly, and probably most importantly, an update about production. On our side, things are looking well: we have implemented feedback you were so kind to provide to the board, player aid and box and we'll show you the cards this week. But the part we need to inform you about is the new virus epidemic which has brought China to a halt.

You've probably all heard about the corona-virus which has been affecting China mostly. We have been in contact with our factory, worrying about them, but so far no one we know and work with has been affected. However, the situation is not easy: the factory is still closed, some employees have no means to reach work, returning from their homes in the heartland of China, and most public transport is still not functional. Based on our latest conversation, they expect to reopen at the end of this week, but it remains to be confirmed.

We expect that this interruption to cause a few days of delay, but we cannot be sure yet. Right now everyone's primary concern is to remain healthy, and getting this done on time comes second.

We have also received a newsletter from another manufacturer and even though we do not work with them on Yedo, it paints a picture of the situation in the industry - you can check this out below.

Of course, we will keep you updated. Have a good week,

Andrei

----------

As you are aware, the Novel Coronavirus is rapidly becoming a global health issue. According to the John Hopkins CSSE, there are currently just under 41,000 cases reports reported and almost 1,000 deaths. The spread of this virus (and its accompanying death rate) has now exceeded the SARS epidemic almost 20 years ago. Also, cases are currently being diagnosed around the world.

China is currently not allowing factories throughout the Guangdong and other provinces to open now that the Chinese New Year holiday (and typical factory shutdown) has ended. Most factories normally scheduled to open on 2/3 will now not be opening until next week at the earliest.

Factories must apply to the government to reopen, and those factories who produce products that are essentially to daily living (food, medical supplies, etc.) are being given priority for when they can reopen. We realize that many of you would feel strongly otherwise, but toy and game factories are not considered to be producing products essential to daily living.

It is expected that the flow of workers back to factories from outlying provinces (and even workers who reside in the cities where their factories of employment are located) will be returning at a very slow rate. This is due to several issues:

  • Mass transit (rail and bus service) in many cities is effectively shut down.
  • Many highways are closed as well.
  • There is an extremely high nervousness about the virus throughout China and other areas. Consequently, there is a huge fear that workers are subject to infection if they venture out in public. So, there currently is very little movement of people

Manufacturing capacity is therefore expected to ramp up at a very slow rate over the first few weeks after each factory is allowed to open. This translates to a difficulty currently with any factory’s ability to commit to project complete dates. That being said, we do expect that over the next couple months we’ll see manufacturing lead times extended by up to 30 days over normal production timelines.

Last days of pledge manager. First images of print files
over 4 years ago – Wed, Feb 05, 2020 at 01:14:26 AM

Ladies & Gentlemen,

Tomorrow will mark the beginning of the last 48 hours for Yedo pledge manager. If your survey is still incomplete, we would like to ask you to fill it up. The link to the pledge manager is below:

https://yedo.backerkit.com/

Please be aware that we won't be able to make exceptions and once the pledge manager is closed, for those of you who fail to fill it in all we will be able to do is at best offer you a partial refund.

You can see below the first batch of files which are print ready. Please be aware these are preview files, so cut marks are just to show what's what and of course the resolution is reduced drastically.

Box front and back:

Box top (without varnish, which comes in a separate file)
Box bottom

Main board

Board - front side
Board - back side

 Player aids

Player aid front
... and back

If you spot any typos or inconsistencies, please let us know by the end of the week, as next week all these files are going to print.

We will of course show you more - especially the cards - as they are going to be finished at the end of the week.

Have a great week,

Andrei

News about project status and pledge manager
over 4 years ago – Mon, Jan 27, 2020 at 01:44:35 AM

Ladies & Gentlemen,

We are very close to finishing all files for print for Yedo and thus we would like to remind you again to fill in your pledge manager. We plan to keep it open about a week longer, beyond that point only address changes will be available.

As soon as we have the designers themselves and a few proof readers look over the files, we will also share them with you to help us spot any possible left over mistakes. Please stay tuned for this.

As far as we know today, the timeline promised during the campaign is valid and we plan to make final deliveries without delay.

Have a great week,

Andrei
